DYNASTY TRAVEL AT HDB HUB
Dynasty Travel has expanded their operations and
set up a branch office at HDB HUB (Toa Payoh). It is a strategic location
for Dynasty Travel as there is heavy human traffic around HDB HUB. Their
current headquarters are residing at Middle Road. Dynasty Travel has also
invested on RATS Travel System Software running on the Linux environment.
It is the perfect choice for scalability. Mr Philip Sim, Managing Director of
Dynasty Travel quoted, “The reason I chose RATS Travel System is that it gives
me the accurate and detailed management reports that I wanted to manage my
company well”. We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate
Dynasty Travel on the opening of their Branch Office.

ABACUS TO MIGRATE TRAVEL AGENTS'
LINK
Systems Design understands that in the not too distant future, Abacus will be
migrating the travel agents’ links to IP VPN from the current gateway link at
9600 baud. What it means is that those Abacus PCs at the travel agents’ offices
will need to be reconfigured to access the new link. This re-configuration will
be done by Abacus or Abacus appointed third party.
The implication of this change is that many travel agents using Abacus PCs to
access the RATS server for the back office applications will find that these PCs
cannot sign into the RATS server after the re-configuration. As these
applications are not part of the Abacus system, the cost to make the Abacus PCs
work with the RATS system will not be borne by Abacus. For some travel agents,
the implication is even greater because these Abacus PCs also access the
Internet, E-mail, fax servers and printers for the in-house system.

AN ANTI-SPAM END USER PERSPECTIVE
PureMessage is now used by Systems Design for filtering out spam. Below is the
perspective from user after four weeks of usage.
The major difference is that now instead of 30 mails a day, I have about 12
mails a day. Of course, there are a couple of mails from the administrator
indicating that these mails have been quarantined. I now have more time for
other tasks.

REPORT WRITER TRAINING
Systems Design recently held at end May ’04 a Report Writer Training class for
Meditech users on the windows client server version. About twenty persons
attended. It was a five half day class and the training was basically hands-on.
The attendees had to do five programs – one program for each session. The
programs covered extracting comment cases; listing of certain tests above
critical values; using macros to do selection of tests; using macros to do
sub-total and using physical address apart from field names to access data.
