To protect enterprise desktops and servers from attacks by internal staff or external outsiders, 3Com and Secure Computing together has come up with a firewall functionality network interface card for server or client PC. Without this card, an outsider or staff who may be given access to get into a corporate sales server may snoop into the corporate accounting server. The protection is on the access coming through the Internet Firewall and not within the corporate network. Once through, each server does not have individual firewall for protection.
The 3Com Embedded Firewall is hardware based and runs independently of the server’s operating system. In addition the 3CR 990 NIC is PCI based and compatible with Windows 2000/98/95 and Windows NT. The security policies are managed centrally, allowing the administrator to create, define and enforce the level of security for all users from a policy server.
