Chia Yee Jock, Technical Specialist at Systems Design, was in Beijing to attend the X2 plotter maintenance course from 1 – 3 July. Although the training was conducted in Mandarin and English, the training material provided were all in English. Six people attended including engineers from Suzhou and Beijing.
The training covered the X2 TECH and the X2 GA products. This is the next generation of the Xpress product and has many enhancements including a camera to provide close loop feedback for color correction; a new design for the printhead and capping; six colors (CYMK, light Cyan, Light Magenta) instead of four, etc.
In one of the sessions, the X2 was opened up and every part in the machine explained. Because there is an internal reservoir for each tube, the ink bottle can be changed even when the plotter is plotting halfway. The training also included the controller AccXES, Caldera, NTX functions and setup.
